The Caretaker

Dog Lamp

Gentle, steady and quietly devoted, The Caretaker is a sculptural lamp that celebrates loyalty, tenderness and everyday beauty.

Hand-built from reclaimed cardboard, paper clay and carefully layered pages from discarded dictionaries, this dog lamp is softly adorned with floral details cut from scrap yellow fabric and denim. The contrast between printed text and tactile textiles adds warmth and subtle colour, giving the piece a lived-in, affectionate character.

The upright stance and attentive gaze evoke companionship and reassurance, while the softly glowing bulb — with wire held firmly in the mouth — casts a calm, comforting light. This is a lamp designed not to dominate a space, but to belong in it.

Each piece is individually made. Variations in text placement, fabric pattern and surface texture are inherent to the design and speak to the materials’ previous lives.

Perfect for bedside tables, reading corners or quiet living spaces, The Caretaker brings light, softness and a sense of presence into the home.
